Michelle Dickens

Managing Director and Co-founder of TPN Credit Bureau
Michelle established TPN in 2000 after working as a rental agent and experiencing first-hand the frustration of dealing with delinquent tenants. In 2007, with the advent of the National Credit Act, TPN registered as a credit bureau and was the first credit bureau globally to specialise in the property industry. Since then, TPN has developed many innovative products and formed close working relationships with global credit bureaux TransUnion and Experian to further enhance the vetting of tenants. TPN’s biggest contribution to the property industry has undoubtedly been the creation of a rental payment profile, another global first, which gives tenants the opportunity to improve their credit scorecard whilst renting premises.

Dr. Andrew Golding

CEO at Pam Golding Property Group
Ex-President of FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) and IEASA (Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa), a Board member of ooba and currently President of REBOSA (Real Estate Businesses of South Africa), Andrew Golding has been responsible for introducing new innovative marketing initiatives focused on the overseas market, including the highly successful Euro Invest tour of England, Ireland, Holland and Germany and other European counties that bring high nett worth investors to South Africa. In 2007 this tour was expanded to include Russia, Dubai, India and China. The PGP group is a member of the global property group, Savills. Here in SA, Andrew Golding is highly respected as a leading member of the business community. He is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Young Presidents Organisation and the SA Medical Health Profession. Married to Tanya, an architect in private practice, they have two sons and a daughter. Andrew’s interests are golf, music and Iron Man triathlons.

Nondumiso Ncapai

Head of Product, ABSA Home Loans
Nondumiso Ncapai has over 13 years’ experience in Digital and IT disciplines and with 9 years in Financial Services. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa with majors in Information Systems and Marketing, she is also a certified Product Manager through the Association of International Product Marketing and Management (AIPMM).

Geoff Lee

Managing Executive: Absa Home Loans, Retail and Business Banking
A banker for the past 11 years, Geoff has held a number of senior leadership positions across the disciplines of Retail banking, including Managing Executive: Absa Card and Payments; Head: Product and Pricing Centre of Excellence; CFO: Absa Mortgages; CFO Absa Card division, and Head: Scheme Management and Payments and Settlements before his most recent appointment as Managing Executive: Absa Home Loans. His qualifications include a BComm from the University of the Witwatersrand and a BAcc, Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Witwatersrand. Geoff successfully wrote the Board exam in 1995 and qualified as CA(SA) in 1997. Geoff’s sporting interests lie in the endurance discipline of cycling and running having successfully completed 6 Absa Cape Epic races, 10 Comrades Marathons as well as other key races on the South African cycling and running circuits. A family man, Geoff and his wife have two daughters and live in Johannesburg.

Amasi Mwela

CEO, Private Property South Africa
Amasi has a proven track record of successfully making strategic acquisitions, showing rapid growth and building operational integrity at prominent companies such as Fundi, Old Mutual iWYZE, American Express Corporate Travel, and both Standard Bank and FNB. His focus on leadership in business and people development are essential contributing factors to success in his role as CEO and is the drive upon which Private Property will continue to grow into significance.

Jasson Urbach

Director, Free Market Foundation in South Africa
He has worked on, and managed, a wide range of projects for the Free Market Foundation, Africa Fighting Malaria, The Mercatus Center, and on grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He is a director of the Free Market Foundation, an independent public benefit organisation that was founded in 1975 to promote and foster an open society, the rule of law, personal liberty and economic and press freedoms as fundamental components of its advocacy of human rights and democracy. Jasson also joined Africa Fighting Malaria in 2004 and was a director of the organisation over the period 2006 to 2016. Africa Fighting Malaria was established to promote policies that would improve global malaria control. Jasson is the author of numerous scholarly studies for peer-reviewed academic journals, including the South African Medical Journal, Foreign Trade Review and the British Journal of Urology International, as well as opinion pieces for leading newspapers, including: Independent, The Star, Business Day, Cape Times, The Federalist, Mail and Guardian and Forbes Magazine. He regularly presents at international conferences and has appeared on national television and radio.

Bronwyn Williams

Trend Translator and Future Finance Specialist for Flux Trends
Since 2011, Bronwyn has collaborated with Flux Trends, on a number of projects, lending her research and writing skills to the Flux trend reports and presentations, including The Fragmented Future of Finance, Virtual Money, So You Want to Hire a Millennial?, Digital Burnout, From Bricks to Clicks and Gen Z: the Real Game Changing Generation; in addition to ghost-writing Dion Chang’s The New Urban Tribes of South Africa book, published by Pan MacMillan. Prior to working with Flux Trends, Bronwyn worked as the Publisher of the South African office of the Agora Group, one of the world’s largest independent financial publishing houses, headed up by the international New York Times best-selling author Bill Bonner. In this role, Bronwyn managed the largest circulation South African financial newsletters and worked closely with a network of local and international financial thought leaders, giving her access to a wealth of ‘insider’ insights on how the world of money really works. Today she is pursuing a Masters in Economics through the University of London, with a focus on post-cash markets. You can read her trend Observations on the flux website.

Tessa Dooms

Managing director of Youth Lab
Tessa also serves as the National Planning Commissioner responsible for Youth Development. Appointed in 2015 the second National Planning Commission of South Africa provides advise to the President on the implementation of the National Development Plan. She currently is a Trustee of the development organisation the Kagiso Trust and is the former Managing Director of Youth Lab, a youth-led policy think tank. Previously Tessa held the positions of lecturer and researcher at three South African Universities and holds a Master of Arts degree with distinction in Sociology from Wits University.

Adrian Goslett

Regional Owner, Director & CEO of RE/MAX Southern Africa
His eight years of experience – both local and international – in the IT field with companies such as the Bank of New York in Europe, Lloyds TSB in London as well as a national South African IT company before joining RE/MAX of Southern Africa in 2005, have stood him in good stead. This is evident in the fact that during his time with RE/MAX, Goslett has spearheaded many technological advances within the company including the unique satellite training and the re-engineering of the remax.co.za website. Adrian Goslett joined RE/MAX in 2005 as a Franchise Development Consultant supporting various regions and offices. Throughout his career at RE/MAX, he has held various positions including Senior Franchise Consultant and Operations Director. In 2008, Goslett was appointed as Assistant Regional Director of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, overseeing operations within the Southern African region. In the same year, he was inducted as a Brian Buffini Master Mentor, giving him the rights to distribute and train all Buffini Training material for real estate agents. In 2009 he was presented with a Young Lions Award – an award that recognises the leaders of the future – at the annual Nedbank Property Professional of the Year awards ceremony. In 2010, after successfully leading the region during 2009, Goslett was appointed as Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa. In the same year, Goslett was awarded as a Mover & Shaker at the annual Nedbank Property Professional of the Year awards in recognition and celebration of his role in leading the industry and shaping it into the business sphere it is today. This comes after Goslett successfully led 160 offices and over 1500 agents in six countries through the worst year real estate has ever seen in South Africa in 30 years. Goslett continues to successfully lead the company into the future with the advantages of cutting-edge technology and solid business insight on his side. RE/MAX of Southern Africa has grown to over 2400 sales associates and was awarded ‘International Region of the Year in 2012 under his leadership. Until recently, he was a director of Real Estate Business Owners of South Africa (REBOSA) and is recognised as a leader in the real estate industry today, both in South Africa and internationally. Goslett also sits on the board of Private Property, the second largest property listing portal in the country. In order to position the company for continued growth in all markets in the next 20 years, Goslett facilited the partnership with Z Capital Properties (Pty) Ltd, a prominent black empowerment company, that purchased a 45% ownership interest in RE/MAX of Southern Africa in January 2015. This forward-thinking move positioned the company as the first transformed real estate group out of the top six groups in the country. RE/MAX of Southern Africa continues to do well under Goslett’s leadership, claiming the Region of the Year award in the Middle East and Africa category at the 2018 R4 Convention in Las Vegas.

TV presenter, actor, journalist and voice artist
Bongani has interviewed thought leaders, senior politicians, and captains of industry, authors, celebrities and high flyers on the global stage. More than a few wrongdoers have come under the glare of his probing questioning. Nicolette Mashile

She is the founder of Financial Fitness Bunnies, a Financial Consumer Education Agency and Bunch of Winnaz; a media buying and brand activations agency. Currently, she Co-Hosts Daily Thetha a youth TV talk show on SABC1 and Personal Finance Management content contributor. After not being able to complete her degree at Rhodes University, she moved to Johannesburg where she used that adversity to complete a National Diploma in Sports Management and BA in Human and Social Studies majoring in Communications, an Honours degree in Integrated Organisational Communication and a Post- Graduate Diploma in Business Admin. Nicolette is currently an MBA candidate doing research in the field of personal finance. Nicolette is a Property Investor with an impressive property portfolio and the founder of Mikateko Property Stokvel PTY Ltd. She describes herself as being a social entrepreneur believing in people development and advancement. With a passion for Financial Education she hopes to “level up” fellow Africans Financial Literacy. She is fondly referred to as The “Financial Bunny” by her audiences who she shares her financial decisions and journeys with and hopes to always impart lessons to. She describes herself as a master of starting thought-provoking conversations. Ambassador Charles Stith

Former US Ambassador to Tanzania & Executive Chairman of The African Presidential Leadership
Prior to assuming his present position as Chairman of Pula, Ambassador Charles R. Stith presented his Letter of Credence as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to the United Republic of Tanzania in September 1998. He served as the Ambassador in the traumatic period after the August 1998 bombing of the United States Embassy in Dar es Salaam. Because of his able and steady leadership, the Embassy emerged from the bombing stable, and set a new standard for U.S. Embassies promoting U.S. trade and investment in Africa. Stith worked with the Tanzanian government to enable them to become the first Sub-Saharan African country to reach the decision point for debt relief under the enhanced Heavily-Indebted Poor Countries Initiative (HIPC). Ambassador Stith is a founder and Non-Executive Chairman of the newly established African Presidential Leadership Center, Africa. He is on the Advisory Committee of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the founder and former National President of the Organization for a New Equality (O.N.E.), which focused on expanding economic opportunities for minorities and women. Most notably during his tenure at O.N.E., he helped negotiate and broker the first comprehensive community reinvestment agreement in the United States. The agreement committed Boston financial institutions to $500 million in mortgage and commercial lending to low- and moderate-income and minority communities in Massachusetts. He later served on the CRA Regulatory Agency Working Group, chaired by then Comptroller of the Currency Eugene Ludwig. He was one of the architects of the regulations redefining the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), which has resulted in nearly $2 trillion in credit and capital for low- and moderate-income communities and communities of color. Prior to heading O.N.E., he was the Senior Minister of the historic Union United Methodist Church in Boston. He was an appointee of then Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. In addition, he has been an adjunct faculty member at Boston College and Harvard Divinity School. He has served on the National Advisory Boards of FannieMae and Fleet InCity Bank, the editorial board of WCVB-TV, and the boards of West Insurance, Inc. and the Wang Center for Performing Arts, among others. Ambassador Stith was formerly on the Faculty of the Boston University Department of International Relations, where he taught a course on Africa and Globalization. and was the founding director of the African Presidential Center at Boston University. He is a coeditor of the recently published African Americans in US Foreign Policy: From the Era of Frederick Douglass to the Age of Obama (University of Illinois Press 2015), the author of For Such a Time as This: African Leadership Challenges (APARC Press, 2008) and Political Religion (Abingdon Press, 1995). He also served as the Senior Editor of the annual African Leaders State of Africa Report and has authored many articles, which have appeared in such publications as the African Business Magazine, Wall Street Journal, Denver Post, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and the Chicago Sun Times. Ambassador Stith is a graduate of Baker University, the Interdenominational Theological Center’s Gammon Theological Seminary in Atlanta, and Harvard University (Th.M). He is the recipient of honorary doctorates from the Interdenominational Theological Center, Elizabeth City State University, University of South Carolina, Clark Atlanta University, and Baker University.

Ilse French

Her focus is on helping organisations action viable transformation strategies to create and capture value. Coupled with her natural problem-solving instinct she can achieve impactful outcomes in short time frames. She is a Chartered Accountant (SA), a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, holds Certificates from MIT in Innovation, Technology and Design Thinking and completed the Executive Program on Exponential Technology at Singularity University. Prior to founding @ExponentialBlue Ilse was a partner at PwC, based in Luxembourg, and globally responsible for real estate digital advisory. Prior to joining the Luxembourg office, she was PwC’s Africa asset management and real estate leader. She has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services consulting.

Bruce Whitfield

Financial journalist & Radio host for Money Show 702 & Cape Talk
Bruce has been named Financial Journalist of the Year three times in the past decade by independent judges in the annual Sanlam Awards and has received recognition for his work on the economy, companies and personal finance. Bruce has developed the ability to tell compelling stories about the political economy in a way that is creative and engaging. He has worked in the highly competitive London radio market and has worked as a foreign correspondent for various global news organizations. He graduated top of his class with a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Rhodes University and has been practicing as a journalist for over two decades. One day he hopes to turn it into a career. Bruce presents The Money Show on 702 and CapeTalk, hosts Taking Stock, a weekly TV show on eNCA, and is a columnist and writer for Business Insider. He is also a sought-after public speaker, MC and conference facilitator.

Pearl Pillay

Activist and Youth Development Practitioner
During her student years, she was involved with organisations like Amnesty International, where she served as President of the branch and was then elected to the Student Representative Council in 2013. She was also extensively involved in various university societies such as the Workers Solidarity Committee and the Wits Palestinian Solidarity Committee, as well as the Wits Feminist Forum and the Golden Key International Honours Society. Pearl has worked in different countries around Africa, training public officials on how to make their policies more beneficial for young people. In 2015, she was selected as one of the recipients of the 2015 Mandela Washington Fellowship. She has also been featured on the Mail and Guardian’s list of Top 200 young South Africans 2015. Pillay has been included on Fast Company SA’s Top 20 Under 25 List for her work in youth engagement. She was also part of Back Chat, a youth advisory group, selected by the then Deputy Minister in the Presidency responsible for Youth, Buti Manamela. This group regularly met with the Deputy Minister to advise him on how to maximise his youth development interventions. Pillay has also been frequently featured in publications such as The Daily Maverick and The Mail and Guardian, particularly writing about politics, race, social movements and Feminism. Most recently, Pillay was elected as an executive board member of the African Movement for Democracy.

Kgalema Motlanthe

Former President of South Africa
Thereafter, he served as President of the Republic of South Africa from 25 September 2008 to 9 May 2009. During this time, he joined world leaders in the G20 and other multilateral bodies to respond to the global financial crisis. At the end of his presidency, he was appointed Deputy President of South Africa by his successor, Jacob Zuma, and held this position until May 2014. As Deputy President, he served as the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly, Leader of the Anti-Poverty Programme, Chairperson of the Energy Advisory Council, Chairperson of the Human Resource Development Council, Chairperson of the South African National AIDS Council and Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. His Excellency now heads the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation which was established when he left government, and strives to contribute to socio-economic development in South Africa & the continent by facilitating sustainable access to knowledge, education & the economy via philanthropic efforts focused on building a knowledge-based economy. It is an honour and a privilege to host His Excellency Kgalema Motlanthe at our inaugural Real Estate Industry Summit.

Julian Treasure

International TED Talk Speaker and Audio Brand Specialist
Julian has been widely featured as a sound and communication expert in the world’s media, including TIME Magazine; The Economist; The Times; the BBC; and many international TV and radio stations and podcasts. His audio-branding company, The Sound Agency, work with some of the world’s biggest brands to improve their sound and their award-winning work has made headlines internationally. Julian is also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Marketors, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a long-time musician. Before The Sound Agency, Julian spent 30 years working in advertising and publishing. He founded, grew and sold contract magazine publishing agency TPD. Nowadays, Julian splits his time between London and Orkney, where he lives with his fiancée and daughter. Speaking to South African audiences for the first time, Julian takes time to gives practical tools to improve and excel in the most basic tool of the real estate trade – listening.

Wendy Forsythe

INMAN Connect Speaker, Coach and International Real Estate Expert
Wendy is a frequent speaker and writer for many industry publications and conferences. In 2017, she was recognized as one of the Swanepoel Power 200 and as a 2017 Inman Real Estate Influencer. In 2018, she was honoured as one of the Most Influential Women in Business in Arizona by AZ Business. Wendy is also an accomplished athlete holding several marathons finishes as well as earning the coveted title of Ironman. She will be speaking in South Africa for the first time and we are thrilled to host her at our inaugural REIS experience.
